There is One Constant
At Cafe 1040, a major goal in our mentorship is to equip this generation with the confidence to go wherever God leads them to go and make disciples among every people group.
Too often, we labor over what “confidence” looks likes. Is it physically feeling safe among a foreign people and land and language? Is it geographically being able to live in any climate or condition? Is it spiritual confidence to believe that God is at work in and among you?
“Although I have traveled quite a bit over the years, this past month living in Southeast Asia has been a totally different experience than I could have ever imagined. My time here has had its fair share of ups and downs, but I have learned that through it all there is one constant: the unconditional, unfathomable, everlasting, and indisputable love of the Father. Having this stability has allowed me to keep a steady focus on the work that has been laid out ahead of me.” –Southeast Asia Grad
There is one constant. That is the confidence that we pray for each one of our students.
We could teach the best evangelism methods for reaching Muslims and all the different ways to go about learning a new language. But what keeps us coming to work every morning is the lesson that comes from being stripped of comforts and securities and finding that the unchanging love of the Father is enough to sustain them through anything. What’s the best preparation for long-term work overseas? Truly believing there is one constant. He is enough. He will sustain you. That is the work of the Holy Spirit and we just get the pleasure of seeing it take place in our students’ lives.
