Until All Have Heard (Part Two)

ROMANS 10:14-15
14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news! How can they believe in him if they have never heard about him?
A few weeks ago I was having a conversation with a local friend of mine here in North Africa. She became a follower of Jesus one year ago, and it has been one of the greatest joys of my heart and a privilege to walk beside her as she continues discovering what it looks like to live a life fully surrendered to Jesus. In one particular conversation, we were discussing the hardships that come with having to sacrifice everything (potentially one's family, friends, job) in order to become a follower of Jesus in North Africa. We talked about how it is important to remember that our lives are not our own, but rather the Lord's. We have to make decisions based on what God wants for our lives, not just what we want or feel. Which can be extremely difficult!
My friend shared with me how sometimes she thinks about how many people there are in the world right now who are living without ever having heard the truth about Jesus. She said to me, "We're so lucky to live in our city because there are other brothers and sisters here…
…But what about my hometown? Who will tell my family about Jesus? What about the people who are living in the mountains? What about the people in the desert? What about all of the people in India? Who will tell them? How will they know the truth?"
I asked her, "What do you think God wants you to do?" She replied, "God is the one who will move." I said, "Yes, but Jesus has commanded us to go and make disciples of all people groups. So we need people to go to the places where there are no followers!" She responded, "Yes, God will send His people. His plans are good."
I was blown away by the fact that the Father is breaking the heart of this sister from an unreached people group for the other unreached people groups of the world! She has the truth and life that Jesus brings and longs for others to experience freedom as well.
But the question remains... How can they believe in him if they have never heard about him?
This is PART 2/5 of a devotional series written based on the key passage for Cafe 1040’s Annual Giving Campaign. A new devotional will be published every week, and we hope you will be blessed by them and pray alongside us.
