What Do You Want To Be Known For?
“What Do You Want To Be Known For?”
Here’s a question society loves to answer for us. Just google it. There are pages of ways to not be forgotten and advice on forming your personal brand. It’s at the heart of most marketing. Buy this product and you will be known for this or work at this company and people will think you are that. As humans, we are created with an innate desire for purpose, for an identity. Throughout life we find it in different places: as a professional, parent, student, athlete.
But what if we were known for something much larger than ourselves?
What if our legacy was not tied to us at all, but attached to a story that began and will continue on long after our finite days?
This is the type of transformation that our students encounter. They are exposed to a story that is so much more magnificent than their own life could ever be. They are laying down their own name, reputation, legacy for the sake and spread of His.
"I am but one small part in a great movement of spreading the Good News to all nations. I know that my contribution will not be remembered in 100 years. My name will not be written in a history book. I don’t expect to have a biography written about me. But I do know that because of my desire to be overseas with people who have never heard the name of Jesus Christ before, in a 100 years from now there will be people who have a relationship with Jesus.
And that’s the kind of legacy I want to leave behind."
