On our last day before returning to base town, we had the opportunity to go prayer walking with a couple who are missionaries among Muslims. As we walked in pairs of two, praying for the people and businesses on the streets we passed, it was a great reminder of how deeply involved God is in each of our lives, going before us to prepare our way.
At one point we encountered a woman and as we were praying for her, a small crowd gathered. One of those women actually invited us into her home! As she offered us water, Chai, and snacks she shared with tears how her oldest son had been sick for three years with Hepatitis and was currently in the hospital. What made this encounter so special was how perfectly God had gone before us to prepare that divine appointment.
One of my teammates, Natalie, was able to personally relate and pray for the woman. Natalie's own father had been sick with Hepatitis for longer than she had been alive and had recently seen God work through a medical treatment to cure him. As I saw the woman's tears, I was reminded of Jesus and the widow of Nain. We shared this story with her, telling her how Jesus saw the widow’s tears and had compassion on her, restoring her son to her (found in Lk. 7:11). Though we don't know what happened, or what will happen, we know that God has heard our prayers and we hope she will see God in whatever happens.
