I recently saw the Sahara Desert for the first time in my life! It was amazing and vast and I cannot believe how beautiful it was! It brought a whole new meaning to Psalm 139: 17 & 18. If his thoughts about us are more numerous than the sand, how amazing is our Father!
The Sahara Desert has the ability to bring the old testament to life, and for the first time I understood what David wrote about when he said God provided streams in the desert for him! As I rode a camel through the desert I saw sand dunes and vast expanses of uninhabited land where nomads had once and still do roam the Earth.
It was in the desert that I truly began to understand the importance of rain and God’s protection and provision over us.
Without God's perfect timing of the rain, there would be no scrub for the camels to eat, and without His timing of the seasons there would be no cool of the night and stars to help our guides find their way! In the desert I also saw the Father's restoration of life, mine and others! He restores and redeems even the desert which until last year has been in a season of extreme drought. And with his streams and rain came a healing of a broken land and a broken person. The Father indeed is good!
