THE UNREACHED

Before ascending to Heaven, Jesus gave his followers one final command: Go and make disciples of all nations. In line with the rest of Scripture, the vision was clear and the task was simple — establish fellowships of Christ-followers from every people group worshipping the one true God.

But have we accomplished the task Christ gave His Church?

According to the Joshua Project, there are close to 17,000 people groups in the world today, making up the world’s population of just over 8 billion.

Out of these 17,000 people groups, nearly 10,000 have already been reached with the Gospel. Praise God! This is good news! This means that there are 10,000 people groups (containing around 4 billion people) who have access to the gospel.

However, this also means there are still 7,000 people groups remaining that have little to no access to the gospel, with 3 billion people living among these unreached people groups.

These unreached people groups are people groups who most often will have no Christians, no churches, and no Scripture in their language.

Statistically speaking, someone living among an unreached people group will live and die without ever hearing the gospel. Not even one time. Not even one chance to choose Jesus.

This reality compels everything we do at Cafe 1040. We are working toward a world where everyone has access to the story of Jesus. This is the problem we are trying to solve.

 
 

THE SOLUTION

Those living among unreached people groups have no one to tell them the story of Jesus in their own language. There are no Christians that speak their language, no Scriptures they would understand, and no believers to answer their questions.

For the gospel to be established among these unreached people groups, it will require a missionary worker from another culture to be sent to this people group, live among the people, learn their language and culture, and then communicate the story of Jesus in a way they can understand. This is central to the task of a missionary.

Thankfully, we have what it takes to reach the remaining unreached people groups. There are 95,000 evangelical Christians and 1,000 churches for every unreached people group.

At Cafe 1040, we believe the emerging generation of missionaries is being raised to see this reality changed in their lifetime. Today’s generation of Christians is unlike any before. Not only do they have the passion, hunger, and desire to live lives that matter for eternally significant things, they have the technology and connectivity in a way that the world has never seen.

This generation has the ability to tell the story of Jesus where it has never been told, but they need help getting there.

This is why Cafe 1040 exists.

We want to help this next generation explore a calling to unreached people groups, address their fears and overcome their obstacles, and gain clarity and confidence around their calling to missions.
