The Gap

When you stand at the edge of the gap you want to cross, your perspective changes, and you realize how far it is to the other side. How are you going to cross? What will it take to get to the other side? Who will help you?

It is a giant leap from sitting in a church pew to walking through the doors of a long-term sending agency, ready and willing to move your life to the other side of the world.

This monumental gap is what motivated us to start Cafe 1040. 

Through hours of research and thousands of interviews, we discovered the steps that young adults need to get them from one side of the gap to the other.

Simply describing the need for missionaries or what is involved with living overseas wasn’t enough to move people across the gap. This generation needed to see it for themselves.

So, we invited them to come and be discipled in some of the hardest places in the world, also known as the 10/40 Window. We offered them a real experience, without the fear of being there alone.
