Fun Thanksgiving Traditions

This year during the holiday season, we wanted to give you some fun ideas on how to practice gratitude together with your loved ones! We know that there are many different ways to give thanks to God, so here are a few of our favorite new tradition ideas to help you reflect on all that you have to be grateful for!

1.   Pass around a “Happy Thanksgiving” journal. Write down something you’ve been thankful for in this past year.

a.     Continue this tradition every year and reminisce on past thanksgivings.

2.   Pray together

a.     Spend some time in prayer thanking God for the ways he’s blessed you this past year.

3.   Pass down a family recipe

a.     Grandma’s famous pumpkin pie, Great Grandma’s Stuffing: take some time to find some old recipes and try them out!

4.   Play a family football game

a.     Or do another activity together to spend time together and get moving.

5.   Make a Fall Foliage Wreath

a.     Go on a walk together and collect pinecones, acorns, and leaves. Turn these fall staples into a beautiful wreath to hang on your door!

6.   Read through the Bible together

a.     Read stories of God’s provision and remember all that you have to be thankful for.

7.   Host Friendsgiving

a.     Hosting a dinner and spending time together is a great way to show your friends how much you appreciate them.

8.   Personalized Place Settings

a.     Have everyone write a few words on a personalized card about each person at the table. It can be a sweet keepsake to remind them why others are thankful for them!

9.   Volunteer or donate to a charity

a.     As a family, choose a place to volunteer or an amount of money you’d like to donate to a charity.

10.  Wind down from the day by watching a movie together as a family

a.     Talk about your favorite part of the day while you relax.
